HLTAID014 - Provide advanced first aid
- Current crowd controller / bodyguards in Queensland must undertake HLTAID014 - Advanced first aid every 3 years. Our flexible program is suitable for those needing workplace approved advanced first aid training or for those who just want to gain the extra skills and knowledge to provide a higher level of first aid care. This unit is in partial completion of CPP31318 - Certificate III in Security Operations. Course Outline
- Target clients of these competencies are currently Queensland licensed crowd controller or bodyguards seeking to complete their triennial refresher training, a mandatory requirement for licensing. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This course provides the skills to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This course provides students with skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It is relevant to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide and emergency response in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Course Outline
The course will be delivered through a combination of self-paced learning and face to face group training and assessment. Please note, this course also requires students to complete pre-reading in addition to the face to face workshop delivered over 2 consecutive days.
PRE-COURSE WORKBOOK - The participant will be supplied with pre-course material which includes a course introduction and overview, where the student will receive information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling and delivery of training and assessment. Information will also be given to the student about information and communication technology and any other services deemed necessary to support learners to achieve competency.
PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT - This phase allows participants to be assessed against the required competencies whilst taking part in role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions and demonstrations that create an excellent and variety-based learning environment.
Note: Course requires participants to attend 2 full days face-to-face practical training
Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge. Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have poor mobility or a current injury please discuss this with us prior to booking. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian.
Pre-requisites
All participants should also have basic language, literacy and numeracy skills and are required to identify if they require language, literacy and numeracy support prior to enrolment by completing a short language, literacy and numeracy examination.
Participants can also ask for language, literacy and numeracy support during the delivery if they find they are experiencing difficulties. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgment of skills and knowledge held by an individual as a result of formal training, work experience and /or life experience. If you believe that you already possess some or all of the learning outcomes contained in this course and you can demonstrate current competency, then you can apply for RPL. To register for RPL you simply contact BARS Training Australia on (07) 5529 0834 during office hours or alternatively complete your online application indicating that you wish to apply for RPL and one of our staff will contact you.
NOTE: In Queensland, the Office of Fair Training will not recognise any prior learning competencies issued to a participant where used for licensing purposes.
